Founded in 2013, a few Mechanical Engineers set out to produce cycling components that they themselves were stoked to ride, and race with. Still a small company of around 12, they hold function, performance and reliability as the driving factors for all product design. Fast forward 6 years and they have hundreds of products to offer, serving both local and international customers. ReMote Specifics Pricing starts at $65 USD, which gets you the lever in your desired mounting configuration, but no cable or housing to connect to your post. Keep this in mind when upgrading to the Wolf Tooth ReMote. So which mounting configurations are offered? Well, Wolf Tooth supports native SRAM, Shimano, Magura and Hope brake mounts. If that doesn’t satisfy, a standard clamp interface for your bars is an option - large diameter for road bikes too! Well sweet, I can mount the ReMote to my bar and brake combination, but which dropper posts are compatible? A lot of them. Originally designed for all cable actuated posts, RockShox Reverb posts will also work with the “Sustain” hydraulic kit offered by Wolf Tooth. The ReMote comes in 2 flavors: the standard version and the “Light Action” variant. The light action lever is simply longer to accommodate harder to pull droppers. Or provide the rider with an easier actuation - a third the force required compared to the standard version. The compatibility chart to the right does a good job at recommending which ReMote is best for your application. All versions weigh less than 39 grams, and are made from 6061 T6 Aluminum. Features also include: a large diameter sealed bearing cartridge, making the movement smooth, and kept away from the elements for prolonged life. A barrel cable adjuster allows for adjustments if and when your cable starts to stretch. And the lever itself is designed to break away from the base should you be in a crash. Wolf Tooth offers inexpensive replacement parts, so you’re back on the trail without having to buy a whole new lever. Stand-Out Features Above all else, the ReMote makes a lasting impression as a component that requires no attention. It is working just as smoothly as the day I installed it. Besides being super reliable, here are my favorite takeaways: • Machined Lever Surface - works great in all conditions, with or without gloves • Upgrade and Spare Part Kits - fix or transfer your lever to your next bike• Side to Side Adjustment - a few mm allows for a tailored fit• Made in the USA - at least 65% of parts from lever to packaging is US sourced • Design - admit it, the wolf logo is rad, and the lever tucks nicely under the bars “works great in all conditions, with or without gloves” Final Thoughts This lever is NOT an after thought. There is intention behind every element of design. This is apparent to me as a rider through the buttery smooth actuation and lack of maintenance required. I honestly cannot think of any faults or any improvement I would make. It just... works! I thought my long term review would have more content. Sorry to disappoint, but I have had zero issues. After the initial installation, I discovered the side to side adjustment, and moved the lever closer to my grips. Besides that, I haven’t touched it.
