Do you service on your own suspension? Want to make your life MUCH easier? If so, then trust me and get a seal driver for your fork. It makes servicing your fork extremely easy compared to not having one.

The seal sits perfectly inside the inner lip of the tool, and the bullet-shaped driver end will sit perfectly in the fork's bushing, making your seals go in 100% straight 100% of the time.

Without a seal driver, it is extremely easy to warp a seal. Been there, done that!

  • Fox seal drivers are universal to other fork brands as well!
  • TRUST US, THESE MAKE LIFE A HELLUVA LOT EASIER

FAQ

Do I really need a seal driver to install dust wipers?

Yes, we would categorize a seal driver in the "needs" category when it comes to tools required to properly service your suspension. Using a seal driver allows you effortlessly press dust wipers into fork lower legs with 100% accuracy.

If you attempt to install dust wipers with any other method, like with a PVC pipe or large socket, you are almost guaranteed to damage or destroy Fox dust wipers which are very rigid with a metal outer face that will immediately twist if not driven in 100% straight. Dust wipers press into fork lower legs very precisely, and being off by even a single degree will deform the dust wipers incredibly easily.

Should I lubricate my dust wipers before driving them into the lower legs?

We do recommend using lubrication when installing Fox dust wipers with a seal driver. Since Fox fork dust wipers have a partial outer metal surface on them, we recommend taking a light fingertip of Slickoleum or lower leg oil to lubricate the inner mating surface of the lower leg where the dust wipers presses in to. This ensures that the dust wiper presses into the lower leg seat nice and smooth.

How do I use a dust wiper seal driver tool?

Using a dust wiper driver tool is very easy. Here are the basic steps:

  1. Remove the old dust wipers from the fork lower legs.
  2. Clean the part of the lower legs where the dust wipers are installed into and add a small amount of clean lubrication within this area.
  3. Remove the spring from the outside of the dust wiper's upper flange.
  4. Place the new dust wiper onto the seal driver with the seal's upper flange facing the large part of the seal driver.
  5. Insert the seal driver into the fork with the bullet side facing into the lower leg and let the driver slide down into the fork bushing until the lower part of the dust wiper makes contact with the lower leg and stops.
  6. Grab a hammer and smack the top of the seal driver with medium force to drive the seal into the lower leg until the upper edge of the seal driver bottoms out on the fork lower leg. Do not continue to hit the seal driver with the hammer once the seal is fully installed.
  7. Remove the seal driver.
  8. Reinstall the spring onto the dust wiper's upper flange and continue the reassembly of your fork.

Can I use a 36 seal driver with a 38 fork? Etcetera.

No, we definitely do not recommend attempting to use your 36mm seal driver with your 38mm fork and dust wipers in hopes of not having to buy a new seal driver. Seal drivers are purposefully made to ensure 100% accuracy when installing dust wipers by using the fork bushings to guide the seal in straight. The seal driver will not make contact with the fork bushing if you attempt to use a smaller diameter seal driver in a larger diameter fork, so the seal will absolutely not be driven in straight. This same thing applies to attempting to use any size of seal driver with a different size of fork.
