Collection: Fox 38 Grip 2 Lower Leg Service

The Fox 38 with the Grip 2 damper is a premier enduro fork, with the best performance in the game, but only if you keep on top of those service intervals! Performing a lower leg service is the easiest way to stay on top of your fork's performance, and can easily be completed by any home mechanic with the right tools and parts. Here, we've assembled all the new parts you'll need to compete a lower leg service at home and refresh that Fox 38. Note that this isn't the same as a full service, and does not include the equipment required for an air spring or damper service. Those procedures are more involved and we recommend taking the fork to a professional technician, like we have here at The Lost Co.

While you're already in your fork, consider upgrading to the GRIP2 Damper if your fork currently has the GRIP damper for increased adjustability as well as an overall more composed ride!

Besides what's included in this kit, here is a list of tools that you'll need to complete the service.

  • 2mm allen wrench
  • Shock pump
  • Socket wrench
  • 15mm socket
  • 10mm socket
  • Rubber mallet
  • Bucket to catch oil
  • Pick to carefully remove old foam rings
  • Torque wrench
  • Lint free rags
  • Rubber gloves
  • Safety Glasses
  • Downhill tire lever or long flat head screwdriver

Here's a super in depth video on servicing a Fox 36 with the Grip 2 damper, and while it's not the exact same fork, all of the same concepts apply! Just make sure that you're using the correct volumes of oil for your fork and you'll be just fine!

Fox recently discontinued their 5wt PTFE Infused Fluid, which was in this kit before, but has replaced that fluid with their 4wt Suspension Fluid, and you can read more about that change here
