We've recently become a Devinci dealer here at The Lost Co, and this is our first ever custom build using a Devinci frame. This customer was recommended to us from another customer of ours who has been trusting us with his bike for years. She resides in Vancouver, BC but also has a home in Whistler, BC so its easy to say that she has access to a ridiculous amount of riding. She has been riding XC for most of her life, with short travel bikes meant to go fast on flat or inclined terrain specifically, but her friend recommended she build a longer travel trail bike to unlock an entire new world of trails for her to explore in the mountain bike mecca that is British Columbia, Canada.

With an XC background and an insane new world of technical descents ahead of her, we didn't want to build her bike to be too burly, too long, too low and too slack. Instead, we came up with an entirely purpose-built custom build for her to be able to hop right onto from her XC bike and feel comfortable tackling this unfamiliar terrain. We immediately landed on the Devinci Troy Carbon 27.5 frame as the foundation of her build, which has 150mm of suspension and 140mm of rear travel. This combined with an adjustable 66/66.5 degree head tube angle and overall light weight equaled the perfect all-mountain bike for the XC rider gone BC tech.

From the tires to the handlebars, this custom build just screams lightweight and fast. For tires, we picked the Maxxis DHF in the front with MaxxTerra rubber compound and lightweight EXO casing for fast rolling grip up front, and for the rear we chose the Maxxis Ardent in Dual-Compound to keep things rollin' fast and again the same EXO sidewall as the front. The drivetrain is the extremely popular and well performing SRAM Eagle X01, mated to the featherweight RaceFace NEXT-SL crankset up front. The chainring is a Wolf Tooth Elliptical (oval) 30t ring, which combined with that Eagle drivetrain creates one beast of a climbing drivetrain.

To handle BC's roots and rocks, the suspension setup is lightweight, efficient and adjustable. The front end is handled by a RockShox Pike Ultimate rather than our typical RockShox Lyrik. We chose the Pike since the rider is a lightweight person, and the slightly less stiff Pike was the obvious choice for this build. The rear squish is taken care of by the RockShox Deluxe RT3 which is included with the Devinci Troy frameset. No piggyback shock here, as the inline Deluxe will be plenty of shock to handle the lighter rider aboard this ride.

Perhaps the most unique part of this custom build is the hand-built wheelset from our head-mechanic Russ who owns Cascade Racing Designs, a small and independently owned carbon-fiber component brand. To give this bike some 'pop' and efficient rolling speed, we laced some CRD V2 carbon rims to the mega light DT-Swiss 240s hubs using DT-Swiss Comp-Race spokes. We typically use the DT Comp spokes on most of our builds, but the Comp-Race spokes are slightly lighter and more flexible with a 2.0/1.6mm butt, which combined with the stiff carbon rim creates a forgiving, fun and agile wheelset. These wheels combined with the fast-rolling tire setup will have this bike spinning up and carrying speed like a rocket!

The build was buttoned up with more lightweight goodies like RaceFace NEXT bars and Turbine Stem, plus some adjustable and powerful SRAM Guide RSC stoppers. The build was completed at 28.8 pounds with pedals; mission accomplished! We're extremely happy with how this bike is goind to ride and also how this bike looks. The color-matched decals on the rims, fork and shock combined with the grey clamps on the grips and silver logo's on the RaceFace parts created a bike that is not only to be an absolute joy to ride all day but also gaze at for a little bit post-ride.

Dear customer, thanks so much for choosing us to help you explore the amazing all-mountain trails in BC. Enjoy!!
